after more than a year in the making we are almost ready to release the final chapter in psychemagiks magik series. due to incredible responses from the artists we contacted we ended up with more tracks than we needed for one album so it was decided to release magik sunset in two parts. both albums contain yet more of the long lost and obscure tracks that the previous compilations have presented and part one is now available on double vinyl in gatefold sleeve.

based in berlin, slow life is a multidisciplinary collective of spanish and italian creatives led by percussionist sergio moreira. his production first caught the ears of phonica via a trilogy of highly impressive 12 inchs on the group’s slow life label, all of which were instant hits and flew out the shop. for this release, moreira teams up with xinner for three of the ep’s four tracks and the results are a spellbinding journey through deep, hypnotic techno, broken beats and submerged ambience. the artwork is once again by acclaimed visual artist jack featherstone, the designer of a number of sleeves for border community, electric minds, warm and of course, phonica.

armando gallop, the legendary chicago producer & dj whose career was tragically cut short by his death in 1996 left behind a legendary reputation as one of the windy citys finest. having released on seminal labels such as, trax, musique, westbrook and his own warehouse imprint, armando brought his own rough hewn brand of machine funk and acid to the table and the dance music world has been much better off for it since.

two sides from our favorite early 80s lover lew kirton. its the first time the sexy soul mans two track have been 45! both solid tried and tested lp tracks, but who wants to spin lps. 15 years of doing a club every week and you end up with some secret weapons, *something special* was always a big tempo change record. everyone is tired from dancing for two hours to fast disco, modern and deepfunk and without warning you just drop this badboy in take it down a notch and let the dry riding commence, solid. on the flip is lews straight up jack of gloria gaynors *i will survive*, pure shameless anthemic dancefloor disco smasher that i have championed for years, that catchy guitar line over lews big voice never tires.

chaotic, acidic jack tracks are the order of the day here, dancer aka sidney winters, dropped this obscure bomb on trax in the peak year of 1987. both sides are mixed by the late, great frankie knuckles and have all the trademarks of his touch, tough drum machines, italo inspired melodies and thundering bass-lines. these monster tracks sound absolutely massive and will surely do damage when dropped today.
